Diet for pancreatitis

Diet soup in the diet of patients with pancreatitis

Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) is accompanied by severe pain. If left untreated, the disease becomes chronic, and frequent exacerbations are typical. Dieting for pancreatic pancreatitis is a must. It is compliance with the principles of medical nutrition that significantly reduces the risk of developing a seizure.

Features of the diet

Diet for pancreatic pancreatitis has its own characteristics. The main task of the diet is to reduce the activity of the organ. How to eat with pancreatitis so as not to worsen your health? The main principles are:

  • complete rejection of fatty or fried foods and sweets;
  • Lack of coarse fiber in the diet;
  • when cooking, only the methods of boiling and steaming are used;
  • fractional diet - food intake occurs in six to seven meals in small portions;
  • The food served must be pureed or finely chopped.

During the day, the patient must drink at least 2 liters of fluid.

Acute nutrition

Diet for acute pancreatitis will help get rid of severe symptoms of a seizure. Its purpose is to stop the production of pancreatic juice, which contains digestive enzymes. This is achieved by refusing to eat (in the first few days) and observing bed rest.

What can you eat during this time if you have pancreatitis? For the first one to three days after the onset of the attack, the person is recommended to be completely hungry, depending on the severity of the condition. Only drinking is allowed: alkaline mineral water, a brew of wild rose berries, weakly brewed unsweetened tea, water. After the state has stabilized and the pain syndrome is eliminated, patients are assigned a diet table.

After the attack is over, the food should be fractionated - up to 8 times a day. The initial serving size is no more than 50-100 grams, and since the low-calorie diet practiced at this time does not meet physiological norms, it is quite short: no more than 7 days. All products used are cooked, the dishes are served warm and have a semi-liquid consistency.

Days Approved Products
First Porridge spreads, slimy soups with cereals (millet and corn groats are prohibited), vegetable decoctions, weakly brewed teas with added granulated sugar, compotes, homemade crackers, fruit jelly and jelly.
Second
third Cottage cheese dishes: soufflés, pudding, pasta, steam omelette.
Fourth Milk porridge.
Fifth Meat puree soup.
Sixth Butter (small amount), vegetable puree (cabbage is prohibited).
Seventh Meat or fish soufflé.

Then the patient is switched to a basic food, the variety of which depends on the presence of concomitant diseases. If we talk about which table is assigned the most, it is number 5P. The diet for acute inflammation of the pancreas lasts 6-12 months.

Nutritional therapy in the chronic form

For patients with chronic pancreatitis, diet is a lifelong commitment, as poor diet can lead to an exacerbation of the pathology. Each attack of the disease is accompanied by a partial replacement of functioning tissues with fibrous ones, which ultimately leads to the development of insufficiency in the secretory function of the gland.

Allowed foods in pancreatitis

During the exacerbation of the chronic form of pancreatitis, accompanied by severe pathological symptoms, as in the acute form, the patient is prescribed a strict 7-day diet. After improving health, the patient is switched to the diet according to Table No. 5 P.

Its main features:

  • Dishes served on the table must either be wiped or carefully chopped;
  • the content of proteins, fats and carbohydrates corresponds to the physiological needs of the body;
  • with poor protein assimilation, its percentage decreases due to an increased content of carbohydrates;
  • Products that contain fiber and extracts are completely excluded;
  • the amount of salt is limited to 6 grams per day;
  • fractionated meals - up to 6 times a day;
  • overeating is unacceptable.
